Route
Brightline West will extend 218 miles from Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga with additional stations in Hesperia and Apple Valley. The system will primarily operate within the median of the Interstate 15 right-of-way. Our station in Rancho Cucamonga will be located directly next to the existing Metrolink station, allowing for a seamless link to Metrolink’s regional service, including seamless service to downtown Los Angeles.
Brightline West will be constructing all new tracks to accommodate our all-electric, zero-emission trains.
We will be using an overhead catenary system consisting of overhead wires suspended over the tracks along the entirety of the right-of-way to provide consistent, clean power to our trains. Our power will come from one of the greenest power providers in the U.S.
The High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Agency is working on a future connection between Palmdale and the Victor Valley Station that would link the California High Speed Rail and Brightline West systems. This effort – the High Desert Corridor – is in the planning stages. More information is available here.
Brightline West is working collaboratively with the California High Speed Rail Authority on future connectivity in Palmdale, as part of the High Desert Corridor. Brightline West is actively communicating with the Authority to share best practices, so the two high speed rail systems can be well coordinated for future interoperability.
Construction
Construction is expected to take about 4 years.
Brightline West service will begin in 2028.
We are working closely with departments of transportation, municipalities, and other stakeholders to ensure any detours, lane restrictions, and other construction-related occurrences are kept to a minimum. We will also keep stakeholders and residents up-to-date with construction alerts and through our social media channels. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Jobs/Contracting Information
In partnership with Southern Nevada and California Building Trades, we are committing our contractors to enter into project labor agreements to support over 10,000 direct field jobs during construction. Inclusive of jobs that go into materials production, transportation, and other key elements to constructing the system, Brightline West will support more than 35,000 jobs across the construction period. At operations, Brightline West is expected to support about 1,000 permanent jobs, about 900 of those being union roles.
We’re looking forward to growing our team as the project moves forward! Stay up-to-date with the latest job openings on our Careers page.
We’ll be working with our contractors closely on the subcontracting process. You can email outreach@brightlinewest.com to be placed on an interest list for subcontracting opportunities.
