UPDATE: NEW LOCATIONS FOR BRIGHTLINE WEST FIELD INVESTIGATION WORK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA
LAS VEGAS (March 11, 2024) – Brightline West announces updates to field investigation work in Southern California and Nevada within the proposed rail corridor within Interstate 15 right-of-way. Field work began in January to advance final stages of design in preparation for a groundbreaking. Brightline West will connect Las Vegas and Southern California with America’s first true high-speed rail system.
Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime hours, with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and in coordination with Caltrans and the Nevada Department of Transportation.
Updated project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits and other signage.
California
I-15 from Yates Well Road to Outlet Center Drive
Daytime borings scheduled in the center median and exterior shoulders, from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Daytime borings in interior shoulder of the northbound Old Hwy 58 on-ramp to northbound I-15, from Monday, March 11 to Thursday, March 14, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-15 from D Street to Oak Hill Road
Daytime borings scheduled in the center median and exterior shoulders, from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Night closures are planned on northbound I-15/SR-395 connector ramp, from Monday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 12, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Night closures are planned on northbound I-15 exterior shoulders from the Roy Rodgers Drive on-ramp to Mojave Drive off-ramp, from Tuesday, March 12 to Thursday, March 14, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
I-15 from Cajon Road to Foothill Blvd
Daytime borings in I-15 center median from Sierra Avenue to the I-210 interchange, and on Cherry Avenue near the I-15, from Monday, March 11 to Friday, March 15, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Night closures are planned on the I-15 center median at Glen Helen Road, from Monday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 12, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Night closures are planned on the eastbound I-210 exterior shoulder, just west of I-15 interchange, from Tuesday, March 12 to Wednesday, March 13, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Night closures are planned on the westbound I-210 to southbound I-15 connector ramp, exterior shoulder, from Tuesday, March 12 to Wednesday, March 13, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Night closures are planned on the I-15 center median in Devore, from Thursday, March 14 to Friday, March 15, 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Day closure planned on Foothill Blvd, west of I-15 interchange in the westbound #1 lane, Friday, March 15, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Nevada
I-15 median north of Jean, Nevada (milepost 13-24.5)
Potholing and survey work through Thursday, March 14, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-15 median north of Primm, Nevada (milepost 1-13)
Geotechnical boring and survey work through Thursday, March 14, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Night work is planned on the I-15 southbound lane #1 between milepost 11.5 - 21 for geophysical testing, on Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22, 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
