UPDATE: NEW LOCATIONS FOR BRIGHTLINE WEST FIELD INVESTIGATION WORK IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
LAS VEGAS (December 9, 2024) – Brightline West announces updates to field investigation work in Southern California within the rail corridor that is located along the Interstate 15 right-of-way. No field investigation work is scheduled for the week in Nevada.
Field investigation work includes geotechnical borings and samplings, utility potholing, and land surveying. Work will take place primarily during daytime hours with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some instances, short-term closures of freeway shoulders will be required. All work will be done in compliance with applicable environmental regulations and in coordination with Caltrans.
Updated project areas are listed below. Motorists should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits, and other signage.
California
On I-15, 1-1/2 miles south of Nipton Road:
Hydraulic boring will be performed off of the northbound exterior shoulder in Wheaton Springs Wash on Friday, Dec. 13, from 7 am through 4 pm.
On I-15 in the Cajon Pass:
Geotechnical borings will be performed on the northbound interior and exterior shoulders on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Friday, Dec. 13, from 7 am to 4 pm.
On I-15 in Lytle Creek:
Geotechnical and hydraulic borings will be performed in the creek bed under the Lytle Creek Bridge from Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13, from 7 am to 4 pm.
Near Oak Hill Road (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Oak Hill Road, south of the northbound I-15 freeway lanes, inside Caltrans's right of way. It will occur on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, from 9 pm to 5 am. Shoulder closure will be required.
North of Ranchero Road (I-15):
Potholing will take place north of Ranchero Road, north of the southbound I-15 freeway limits, on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, from 8 am to 5 pm.
Stoddard Wells Road:
Potholing will take place near Stoddard Wells Road, outside the northbound and southbound I-15 freeway limits, inside and outside of Caltrans’s right of way, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, from 8 am through 5 pm.
Near Oak Hill Road (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Oak Hill Road, north of the northbound I-15 freeway lanes, inside Caltrans’s right of way. This will occur on Tuesday Dec. 10, 2024, 8 am through 5 pm.
Near Luna Road (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Luna Road, north of the southbound I-15 freeway limits. This will occur on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, 8 am through 5 pm.
Near Quarry Road (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Quarry Road, north of the southbound I-15 freeway limits, inside and outside of Caltrans’s right of way, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, from 8 am through 5 pm.
Near Duncan Canyon (I-15):
Potholing will take place near Duncan Canyon. This will occur on Thursday Dec. 12, 2024, 8 am through 5 pm.
North of SR-138 (I-15):
Potholing will take place north of SR-138. This will occur on Thursday Dec. 12, 2024, 8 am through 5 pm.
Note: Dates and times are subject to change. These operations are weather-dependent.
